Seated Figure - A very powerful painting in the cubist style. Signed and dated by Alex Portner, a noted and collected artist (1920-1982).

Alex Portner was born in Berlin in 1920, to a Russian mother and a Polish Jewish father. Portner Studied under Max Klaus in Belin and Hans Thiemann in Leipzig and also in Paris and Amsterdam before fleeing to England in 1939 to serve in the British army throughout the second world war. Portner exhibited widely in London in the 1960's and at Galleries in South Africa and America.
