Artist biography:

Malcolm Chandler was born in London in 1932. He attended the West Sussex College of Art in Worthing in 1949-52. On leaving college he went directly into advertising and joined J. Walter Thompson as a visualiser/concept artist and at the same time he worked on a series of abstract paintings.

After a time, Malcolm studied and developed the methods and materials of Old Master painting and began to restore and copy with incredible skill, Old Master replacements for museums, universities and collectors. As he still does from time to time today.

His return to abstract painting offers an area to explore and a form of expression which includes all that he has learned and at the same time a freedom to discard everything in an unpremeditated search for the creative image and balance between colour and shape.
